The GS53 MAX driver takes many of its design cues from the GS53 driver. However, it’s a very different driver - developed completely independently from the ground up.

The 460cc GS53 MAX driver’s face is 22 per cent larger than the GS53 to help create a sense of confidence before the first swing.
And the shape of the forged titanium face has been highly engineered to increase forgiveness. Precise bulge and roll geometries help bring drives struck towards the heel or toe back into the fairway.

The GS53 MAX driver utilises Ben Hogan’s variable thickness Face Flex Technology, too, to increase forgiveness. Shots struck in the centre of the face deliver a pure, solid feel. Even shots hit off-centre will deliver maximum distance.

Tech highlights

• Change the loft of the driver up to two degrees from the base loft – one degree stronger or weaker. You can also change the lie angle and face angle from square to open or closed, and “tune” your driver to help overcome unwanted slices or hooks.

• Innovative four-piece design - using forged titanium, tungsten, and carbon composite materials - was created by our engineers to deliver performance. The combination of these different materials delivers a number of different benefits, all designed to enable you to hit your longest drives.

The Ben Hogan GS53 Driver was designed with serious golfers in mind. It uses the most advanced materials and proven technologies so can easily compete with the very best.

But as with all Hogan equipment emphasis has been heaped on creating a beautiful model when it’s sat behind the ball at address.

The GS53 Driver is designed to deliver distance and accuracy and Hogan say in terms of performance  it’s maxed out to the rules set by the game’s governing bodies.

The titanium body is forged and crafted into a cracking driver that costs almost half that of comparable clubs from the big brands.

Tech highlights

• A simple adjustable hosel makes tailoring the GS53 to your own game easy. Each driver comes with a loft wrench which allows the loft to be adjusted by 1° stronger or weaker. It’s also possible to customise lie angle and/or face angle (square, open or closed) to give both the look you want at address and your preferred shot shape.

• Like most of Hogan’s equipment the GS53 is tailored to the preferences of the better player; expect a slick 450cc head shape and a powerful impact sound.

Nine-time major winner Ben Hogan was never the longest player on Tour. But he always ranked among the most accurate, and here at TG we think it’s because his course management skills were impeccable.

One of Mr Hogan’s most famous quotes was “the most important shot is the next one”. And by this he meant putting your ball the correct position on any hole is the best way to make par or birdie. It’s this philosophy Ben Hogan have utilized to create the GS53 fairway wood. Hogan say they’ve engineered the GS53 to provide incredible, dependable accuracy first. While the fairway boasts the same name as the driver, Hogan say it wasn’t just designed to be a smaller versions of it, like other manufacturers.

The GS53 fairways were designed to keep you in play off the tee while also remaining powerful enough to give the opportunity to hit par 5s in two.

Tech highlights

• Forged Flex Face technology allows Hogan to create a variable thickness face. It’s thickest in the centre and thins towards the edges, ensuring maximum face flex and minimum ball speed loss even on mishits.
